FAQ
What is SportsPicker?
SportsPicker is a completely free to play sports prediction platform! Join or create time-constrained challenges and prove your sports picking skills.
What does it cost?
Zip! SportsPicker is absolutely free to play and has the potential to win thousands of dollars!
How are point totals calculated?
The point totals are calculated based on the likelihood of the team winning the game. Favorites are always worth 100 points, underdogs range from 125-200 points based on their odds of winning. The larger the underdog, the more points they are worth. This seeding structure allows users to use strategy when picking the games as an upset pick can help them vault up the leaderboard.
How is SportsPicker different from online sports betting?
Online sports betting requires that some form of money is being wagered — a sometimes tricky proposition given current laws and restrictions. SportsPicker is a completely free, social competition, thus players can compete with anybody, anywhere, anytime.
How is SportsPicker different from fantasy sports?
SportsPicker has set out to differentiate itself from fantasy sports by allowing users to pick who they believe will win the games. In fantasy sports, users select individual players and the result of the games become unimportant. SportsPicker brings sports fans back to the old ways of rooting for teams to win and not for players to play well.
Are there any cash prizes offered for picking the correct teams?
SportsPicker 2.0 is proud to announce our new Sponsored Challenges. These challenges will be public pools designed to invite all of SportsPicker’s users to compete against one another for prizes being offered by our sponsors. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 point getters in each pool. In custom pools players can invite friends to join and play for whatever they want, anywhere from bragging rights to making the loser have to wear your favorite team’s jersey for the day.
When and how was SportsPicker started?
In March 2011, Oren was assigned a class project to develop a business plan. At the time, Oren was fully involved rooting for his picks in the March Madness NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament. As he contemplated what his business would be, a friend called him up and guaranteed two teams would win that night. The light bulb went off and SportsPicker was born. Oren was set to create a year-round March Madness style picking competition for all sports.
Who is the typical SportsPicker user?
The typical SportsPicker user is any sports fan looking to add some level of importance to every game they watch by competing with friends online. The allure of cash prizes keeps users returning daily.
What are the Badges?
The badges are a new, fun way to keep track of how awesome you are at SportsPicker. Starting off as a Jungle Gym God, as you work your way up you can unlock new badges with each level you reach. Can you become a Team Owner?
Why should I invite my friends?
Not only are you now able to create your own personal pools to pick against your friends in a format similar to fantasy sports, but also the more users SportsPicker has the larger the sponsored prizes will become!
If I win a Sponsored Challenge how will I receive my prize?
Once the sponsored pool finishes the top three finishers will receive an email within 24 hours to confirm their eligibility to receive the prizes. Once eligibility is confirmed we will either email you your gift card or send you your prize.
Which email address are the SportsPicker emails being sent to?
The email addresses SportsPicker has access to are only the one you use to log into Facebook with. This is the email address where all of the notifications, eligibility confirmation, and prizes will be sent to.
